Transforming Urology Health Monitoring with Cutting-Edge Technology

Launch NY has invested $175,000 in Caretech Human, an Ithaca-based startup developing revolutionary health monitoring technology. This funding will help the company scale up manufacturing and bring its innovative product to market.

Innovation at Cornell University’s Business Incubator

Caretech Human, based at Cornell University’s Center for Life Science Ventures business incubator, has created a small, non-invasive device for continuous health monitoring of urology diseases. This device, installed above the toilet bowl waterline, offers a new standard of care by detecting and screening for a range of urology diseases, which affect more people than diabetes.

Bridging the Gap in Urology Care

Dan Matsui, CEO of Caretech Human, highlighted the lack of convenient at-home assessment options in urology. The Launch NY funding supports the company’s goals as it begins manufacturing and selling the device.

Funding Breakdown and Future Plans

The $175,000 investment includes $75,000 from Launch NY’s nonprofit seed fund and $100,000 from LaunchNY Seed Fund II, a for-profit fund. This support will transition Caretech Human from development to commercial production, readying it for market entry and significant impact in the health technology sector.

Supporting Regional Innovation

Marnie LaVigne, Ph.D., president and CEO of Launch NY, emphasized the potential for these companies to create competitive, market-leading products locally and nationally.

Revolutionizing Urology Care

Caretech Human’s system aims to revolutionize urology care with continuous, real-time health data, enhancing patient care and reducing healthcare costs by detecting diseases early.

Addressing a Critical Gap

With a focus on preventative care and the demand for home health monitoring technologies, Caretech Human’s device offers a simple, non-invasive way to monitor urological health, improving patient outcomes and quality of life.

Expanding Support for Startups

Launch NY’s investment in Caretech Human is part of its broader effort to support startups in Upstate New York through InvestLocal financing programs. These include nonprofit and for-profit funds and an Investor Network of over 325 accredited investors.
