The federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs are a critical source of non-dilutive financing for early-stage companies. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) SBIR and STTR programs provide approximately $200 million annually to US small businesses for developing and commercializing novel cancer technologies. In addition to funding, the NCI SBIR Development Center offers various non-funding resources to aid the commercialization of products by small businesses. Dr. Monique Pond:
Dr. Monique Pond is a Program Director at the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Development Center at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Dr. Pond manages a portfolio of grants and contracts to small businesses developing novel cancer therapeutics, digital health technologies, and therapeutic devices. Dr. Pond earned her Ph.D. in chemistry from the Pennsylvania State University and completed her postdoctoral training at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Dr. Swamy Tripurani:
Dr. Swamy Tripurani is a Program Director at the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Development Center at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Dr. Tripurani manages a portfolio of small businesses that develop novel diagnostics, devices, and targeted therapeutics for cancer detection, diagnosis, and treatment.Before joining NCI, Dr. Tripurani worked at FDA for eight years as a research and regulatory review scientist. Swamy received his Ph.D. in Genetics and Developmental Biology from West Virginia University and completed his postdoctoral research training at Baylor College of Medicine.
